Hi, I’m Sarah. I take your spray tan probably more seriously than any normal person should.
I’m the owner and spray tan artist behind Luxe Spray Tans & Shoppe in Bossier City. I have a degree in molecular and cellular biology, 10+ professional spray tan certifications, advanced training in color theory and skin science, and a tendency to go down very deep rabbit holes anytime I want to understand why something works. Turns out, that’s pretty useful when your job involves skin, chemistry and color.
Molecular + Cellular Biology · 10+ Professional Certifications · Advanced Color Theory · Skin Science · Every Tan Done Personally by Sarah
This was definitely not the original career plan.
I have a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology and a background in medical assisting and patient care. So no, growing up I was not dreaming about owning a spray tan business. But once I started learning what was actually happening on the skin during a spray tan, my science brain took over.
DHA reacts with the outermost layer of your skin. Skin condition, hydration, products, preparation, formulation, development time and a whole list of other variables can change how that tan develops. Naturally, I needed to know all of it.
That led to more than 10 professional certifications, advanced education in color theory and skin science, training with some of the most respected educators in the sunless industry, and a frankly ridiculous amount of continuing education for a woman whose family probably thought she was just learning how to spray people brown. 😂
But I don’t collect certifications just to hang them on a wall. I learn because every piece of information gives me another tool to figure out what will work best for the person standing in front of me.
“Not choosing between Light, Medium or Dark. It’s understanding your skin, listening to what you actually want and adjusting what I do around you.”
SKIN SCIENCE
My degree is in molecular and cellular biology, so understanding what is happening on the skin is genuinely one of my favorite parts of this job. I want to know why something works, why it didn’t, and what I can change to make the result better.
ADVANCED EDUCATION
I’ve completed 10+ professional certifications, including advanced training in color theory and other specialized areas of sunless tanning. I also continue learning because products, techniques and the science behind them keep evolving.
CUSTOM ACTUALLY MEANS CUSTOM
I don’t have one favorite solution that everybody gets. Your skin, your goals, your timeline and your previous experiences all help determine what I use and how I use it.
ONE ARTIST. EVERY TIME.
Luxe is a one-woman business. I consult with you, formulate your color, spray you, keep your notes and remember what we learned from your last appointment. You’re not starting over with somebody new every time you walk through the door.
Somewhere along the way, this became about a lot more than spray tans.
I’m a mom first. And part of the reason this business means so much to me is because it gave me something I didn’t fully realize I was going to need. Flexibility.
When my son Lincoln was diagnosed with autism, our family’s schedule changed in ways I never could have planned for. There were evaluations, appointments and a lot of outpatient therapy. There were weeks when it felt like our calendar belonged more to therapists and doctors than it did to us. And I wanted to be there. Not occasionally. Actually there.
Building this business gave me the ability to keep working, keep creating something that was mine and still structure my life around the two little people who needed me most.
It also shaped the way I run Luxe. I understand complicated schedules. I understand women walking through the door with approximately 47 things happening in their heads. I understand having days when you’re doing a really great job and days when getting everybody where they’re supposed to be with matching shoes feels like an accomplishment.
“This business gave me more time with my family. And somehow, in return, it also gave me this entire community of women I probably never would have met otherwise.”
You do not have to feel confident walking in here.
THAT’S KIND OF THE WHOLE POINT.I know getting mostly naked in front of somebody you just met is not everyone’s idea of a relaxing afternoon. I’ve sprayed women who walked in completely comfortable and women who immediately started apologizing for their stomach, stretch marks, scars, cellulite, dry skin, pale legs and approximately twelve other things I genuinely was not judging.
You don’t have to apologize for your body here. Ever.
“My job isn’t to inspect you.”
My job is to make you comfortable, figure out what your skin needs and give you a tan that makes you feel really freaking good when you look in the mirror.
If you’re nervous, tell me. If you’ve had a horrible spray tan before, definitely tell me. If you have twelve questions, ask all twelve. I’ll walk you through what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, what to expect while your tan develops and exactly what to do when you get home. No guessing. No judgment. And no pretending spray tanning needs to be intimidating.
I built Luxe for real women because I am very much one of them. Outside the studio, I’m raising two kids, running a business, keeping up with appointments, forgetting where I put my phone while it’s probably in my hand, and attempting to remember whichever school thing I was absolutely positive I wouldn’t forget this time.
So when I talk about confidence, I’m not talking about some perfectly curated version of self-care. Sometimes you have a wedding. Sometimes you have family pictures. Sometimes you’re going on vacation. And sometimes you’ve spent so much time taking care of everybody else that you look in the mirror and think, Okay. I would like to feel a little more like myself again.
I understand that one.
A spray tan isn’t going to solve your life. But twenty minutes where somebody else takes care of you for once? That can be pretty nice. And if you leave standing a little taller because you love the way you look, even better.
Your custom spray tan artist in Bossier City.
Luxe Spray Tans & Shoppe is located inside Grace & Grit Hair Design at 2353 Airline Drive in Bossier City, Louisiana. I work with women throughout Bossier City, Shreveport and the surrounding Northwest Louisiana area.
Some come in before their biggest life events. Some come every couple of weeks. Some arrive absolutely terrified for their first spray tan and eventually become the person sending their friends to me. I love all three.
You don’t need to know what solution, formula or level of color you need.
That’s my job. You just tell me what you want to look and feel like when we’re done. I’ll handle the skin science, the color and all the ridiculous overthinking behind the scenes.
Private appointment. Custom color. Zero judgment.
